Bernard Lord became Chief Executive Officer of Medavie in September 2016 to provide strategic leadership to further the company’s mission to improve the wellbeing of Canadians. Prior to this role, he spent eight years on the Board of Medavie and was President and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunication Association of Canada. He sits on boards of several companies and organizations, including as Chair of Ontario Power Generation. Mr. Lord served as Premier of New Brunswick from 1999 to 2006.
In 2014, 45 immigrants lived in Gloucester County. By 2024, there were 563.
That shift tells us something the whole region needs to hear. Atlantic Canada's growth over the past decade was built on immigration, and pulling back now puts the next ten years at risk.
This year, the New Brunswick Business Council commissioned a report to test that idea against the evidence. We asked a simple question. What does Atlantic Canada look like in 2035 if immigration keeps growing, and what does it look like if it doesn't? We did not want a report that confirmed what we already believed. We wanted numbers that hold up.
