Camille H. Thériault is an experienced businessman and seasoned politician. He has extensive knowledge of strategic planning, management and operations support for the cooperative movement.

Renowned for his ability to develop long-term strategic partnerships, he communicates efficiently with employees as well as with executives and experts of all levels with his innovative approach to organizational change, combined with his expertise in the fields of economics and finance.

A well-known figure in New Brunswick since joining the Legislative Assembly in 1987, Camille has -served as a member of Parliament, Minister in various ministries and as the province’s Prime Minister in 1998 and 1999. In 2001, he became Chairman of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of UNI Financial Cooperation (then Fédération des Caisses populaires acadiennes) from 2004 until his retirement in 2016.

He distinguished himself throughout his career as a recipient of various awards and honours. In 2008, he was named “Personality of the Year” by L’Acadie Nouvelle. In 2011, he was a recipient of the Canadian Order of Cooperative and Mutual Merit, and positions UNI as the Quebec Atlantic regional winner of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures. In 2009 and 2013, he was named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs by Atlantic Business Magazine. In 2013, he won the Marilyn Trenholme Counsell Award in the Corporate Literacy Initiative’s cat egory; that same year, he was inducted into the Ordre des grands amis et amies de la Faculté d’administration de l’Université de Moncton. He was inducted in the New Brunswick Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in 2015 and appointed a member of the Order of Canada in 2018.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in social sciences in 1976 and an honorary doctorate in business administration in 2008 from the Université de Moncton. He also completed the Director of Development Program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management in 2010.
